JCHS Senior Students & Families, 

We have been working toidentify a plan for in-person graduation activities that will conform to thehealth and safety guidance provided by the Oregon Department of Education andthe Oregon Health Authority. We are planning to hold the JCHS GraduationCeremony as scheduled, on Saturday, June 12th, at Peden Field. This past week,we met with District Nurse Carol Puderbaugh to map out our graduation plansbased on the county risk levels; now that we have that information, we wouldlike to share it with you, so that you know exactly what to expect and can makeplans accordingly. The Lane County risk levels that are in place on Saturday,June 12th will determine the format of graduation, whether spectators will beallowed, and the number of spectators. Details for each county level aredescribed in the chart at the end of this communication. In order toparticipate in graduation as a graduate or a spectator, all attendees mustagree to and abide by the identified health and safety protocols, as well asthe JCHS Code of Conduct found in the student handbook. Spectators may be askedto sign in using a QR code for contact tracing purposes, depending on thecounty risk level. While on campus, graduates and spectators must wear a facecovering over their mouth and nose and maintain a physical distance of at least6 feet from people outside of their party at all times while on districtproperty- including all outdoor spaces. Hand sanitizer will be availablethroughout the space and all are asked to sanitize hands upon entry and asneeded. At the conclusion of the ceremony, all attendees will be asked topromptly exit Peden Field and take post- ceremony celebrations, includingfamily or group photographs, off campus. We certainly know many things havebeen very different this year, and Graduation will be no exception. Weappreciate your commitment to abide by the guidelines that allow us to offerthis event in-person. As more information becomes available we will share itwith you using the Senior Class Google Classroom as well as the District PNSsystem. Additionally, we are holding a mandatory Senior Team Meeting on campusin the WW Gym at 9 AM on Wednesday, May 26th. At that time, seniors willreceive important information, reminders and personalized senior yard signs.Tiffy the JCHS tiger will also be present and happy to pose with each studentand their sign before they leave if they wish. Please encourage your student tocome in person for this meeting if they are able.
