I will not be in class today due to a family emergency.

Your goal for "class" today is to record your final project. Do not panic. If you don't like the outcome, you will have another chance tomorrow.
Remember the following:
I need to see your entire upper torso.
I need to be able to hear the music.
I need to be able to clearly see that your cues are to different locations.

PLEASE use this time wisely.

Email me at the end of class and tell me what you accomplished today and how you feel your "performance" was.
Submit this assignment at the end of your normal class time to be counted present.

Fill out the Google Form to be counted present on 11/25.

Record yourself conducting your piece on your phone or computer.
Watch your recording thinking about how you did, what you did well, and what you could do better.
Complete the rubric to give yourself a score.
Submit by the end of class.

Read Chapter 8 in preparation for class tomorrow. There will be a short quiz at the beginning of class.

This is for an in-class assignment today (10/20).

Answer the two questions in the attached Google Form to be counted as "Present" for today.
Please complete before 1:00 PM.

Read the section on Score Study and its three phases.

Once completed, look through your chosen repertoire and listen to recordings of the songs.

You will select one of the songs to do a score study and conduct for your final product.
Finally, answer the questions on the attached document about your selection.

Practice your expressive dynamic motions and your right hand cuing for 10 minutes. :)
Be prepared for a one-on-one check-in on your conducting tomorrow.

Make sure you "turn in" this assignment by 1:00 PM today.

Please read The Art of Conducting - Chapter 4, page 45 to 48.
Once finishing the reading, answer the questions on the Google Form.

The first step in our Conducting Project is to peruse the JCHS Choral Library OR JCHS Band Library spreadsheets and pick 4 songs that create a comprehensive and cohesive concert program.

-Band students will select from the Band Library. Choir students will select from the Choral Music Library.
-You must pick from only these lists.
-Only pick a piece of music that has a full recording. (To find these recordings, I suggest using YouTube or JWPepper.com)

Once you have selected your 4 songs, create a Google Doc and list the 4 songs along with their composer/arranger and then provide a short explanation of why you selected each piece.

Due: Monday - October 5th

Read Introduction and Chapter 1 of The Art of Conducting. Be prepared to discuss Chapter 1 on Thursday 9/24.

Create a song playlist of at least 5 favorite choral songs. These songs can be classical OR something more modern (ex: Pentatonix). You may use whatever platform works best for you. (YouTube, Spotify, etc.)

Once your playlist is completed, email your playlist to [email protected].
